Veneers – allies for a perfect smile

Veneers are small ceramic elements used to cover the teeth to better their look and hide aesthetic imperfections. These fixed prosthetic substitutes are usually made of a ceramic or porcelain material which emulates perfectly the look and the colour of the tooth. Veneers made of composite materials are also available, and while they can be repaired their duration is shorter.

When are veneers used?

Even with maximum care and careful hygiene teeth can still exhibit small imperfections such as changes in colour or they can get damaged after an injury. Veneers are thus extremely useful in cases such as:

– Teeth discromy

– Enamel imperfections

– Teeth discoloration

– Imperfections in teeth’s shape

– Correction of tooth’s position

– Dental abrasion

Veneers application and care:

Veneers are created so to emulate colour and shape of the adjacent teeth, and are glued to the treated tooth with a special material (adhesive cementing). The tooth’s enamel needs to be minimally trimmed before veneers application, by which no health hazard is caused to the tooth. The procedure is painless and quick.

Veneers are a long-term solution to aesthetic problems, especially when front teeth are affected. Regular visits to your dentist will ensure their longevity and the health of the treated tooth. Veneers do not require special care, but regular hygiene is mandatory just as avoiding too hard foods that might damage them.
